What is Organization Ownership?
On Taalika, an "organization" refers to any dance school, cultural institution, or performance group with a profile on the platform. The owner is the individual with ultimate control and decision-making authority over that organization's profile and operations within Taalika.
Key Principle: Each organization has exactly one owner at any given time. While ownership can be transferred, there cannot be co-owners or shared ownership. This ensures clear accountability and decision-making authority.
Types of Organizations on Taalika
Dance Schools: Institutions offering regular dance training
Performance Groups: Professional or semi-professional dance troupes
Cultural Organizations: Non-profits promoting dance and culture
Festivals: Recurring festival organizations
Production Companies: Groups producing dance performances or events
Owner Rights and Privileges
Full Control
As the owner, you have complete control over:
Profile Management: Edit any and all profile information
Team Management: Add, remove, and change roles of any team member
Content: Post updates, manage photos, videos, and all media
Events: Create, edit, and manage organization events
Settings: Configure all organization settings and preferences
Financial: Manage billing, subscriptions, and payment information
Integrations: Connect third-party services and tools
Exclusive Owner-Only Powers
These critical actions can only be performed by the owner:
Delete Organization: Permanently remove the organization profile
Transfer Ownership: Change who owns the organization
Remove Admins: Remove users with Admin role
Critical Settings: Change organization name, URL slug, or legal information
Financial Authority: Final approval for major financial decisions
Why Owner-Only Actions Exist: Certain actions have permanent consequences or significant implications. Limiting these to the owner prevents accidental or unauthorized changes and ensures organizational stability.

Owner Responsibilities
Organizational Accountability
As owner, you're responsible for:
Legal Compliance: Ensuring organization complies with Taalika's terms of service
Accurate Information: Maintaining truthful and current profile information
Team Oversight: Monitoring team member activities and access
Content Standards: Ensuring all posted content meets community guidelines
Financial Obligations: Managing any fees or subscriptions
Communication: Serving as primary contact for Taalika platform issues
Succession Planning
Responsible ownership includes planning for continuity:
Identify potential successor(s) in case you're unavailable
Document critical processes and access information
Maintain at least one Admin who can manage daily operations
Communicate succession plans with key team members
Keep contact information current for emergency access
Important: If the owner becomes unreachable and there's no Admin, the organization can become orphaned, making management difficult. Always maintain at least one trusted Admin for continuity.
When to Transfer Ownership
Appropriate Reasons to Transfer
Organizational Change: New director, principal, or head of institution
Personal Transition: Retiring, relocating, or changing roles
Delegation: Assigning responsibility to someone more actively involved
Legal Changes: Changes in organization's legal ownership or structure
Succession Planning: Planned handoff to next generation leadership
When NOT to Transfer Ownership
Temporary Absence: If you're just on vacation or brief leave (assign an Admin instead)
Sharing Workload: Use team roles rather than transferring ownership
Under Pressure: Never transfer ownership when being pressured or coerced
Uncertainty: If you're unsure about the person's reliability or commitment
How to Transfer Ownership

Troubleshooting Ownership Issues
Can't Access Organization
Verify you're logged into the correct Taalika account
Check if ownership was transferred (check email)
Ensure account is in good standing (not suspended)
Contact Taalika support if you believe there's an error
Ownership Dispute
Taalika recognizes the current account holder as legitimate owner
Ownership disputes must be resolved offline between parties
Provide legal documentation if claiming unauthorized transfer
Contact support for guidance on complex situations
Previous Owner Won't Transfer
Ownership transfer requires voluntary action by current owner
Try to reach agreement through conversation and mediation
Consider creating a new organization profile if necessary
Legal changes in real-world ownership don't automatically transfer Taalika ownership
Common Questions
Can two people co-own an organization?
No. There can only be one owner at a time. However, you can have multiple Admins who have nearly all the same permissions as owners, except for critical actions like deleting the organization or transferring ownership. This structure typically works well for shared leadership.
What happens if I delete my personal Taalika account?
If you delete your account while owning organizations, you'll be required to either transfer ownership or delete each organization first. Taalika won't let you delete your account while you still own active organizations.
Can I transfer ownership back to myself later?
Only if the new owner voluntarily transfers it back. Once you transfer ownership, you lose the ability to force any changes. The new owner has complete control and could even remove you from the team.
Who owns the organization in real life vs. on Taalika?
Taalika ownership refers only to control of the organization's Taalika profile and presence on the platform. It's separate from legal ownership of the actual dance school or organization. Ideally, the real-world owner or director should also be the Taalika owner, but this isn't enforced.
What if the owner becomes unavailable or unresponsive?
This is why having at least one Admin is critical. Admins can manage daily operations even if the owner is unavailable. For long-term owner unavailability, contact Taalika support with documentation of the situation. They may be able to assist in special circumstances.
