Setting Up Your Profile

Customize your personal profile with your information, preferences, and profile picture.

Accessing Profile Settings

To edit your profile:

1. Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner
2. Select "My Account" from the dropdown menu
3. Or navigate to My Taalika → Profile

Profile Information

Basic Information

• Display Name: The name shown to other users
• Bio: A brief description about yourself (optional)
• Location: Your city or region (optional)
• Website: Your personal website or social media link (optional)

Profile Picture

Add a profile picture to make your account more recognizable:

1. Click the camera icon or "Change Photo" button
2. Select an image from your device (JPG, PNG, or WebP)
3. The image will be automatically cropped to a square
4. Click "Save" to update your profile picture

Language Preferences

Taalika is available in multiple languages:

1. Look for the language selector in the top-right corner (globe icon)
2. Click to see available languages
3. Select your preferred language:
   • English: Full interface translation
   • ଓଡ଼ିଆ (Odia): Full interface translation
4. The interface will immediately update to your selected language

Privacy Controls

Profile Visibility

Control who can see your profile information:

• Public: Visible to everyone (default)
• Members Only: Only visible to registered Taalika users
• Private: Only you can see your profile

Contact Information

You can choose to display or hide:

• Email address
• Phone number (if added)
• Social media links

Notification Preferences

Customize how Taalika notifies you:

Email Notifications

• New Messages: Get notified when someone sends you a message
• Event Updates: Notifications about events you're interested in
• Circle Activity: Updates from your circles
• Newsletter: Monthly updates about Taalika and the community

In-App Notifications

• Real-time Alerts: Instant notifications while using Taalika
• Desktop Notifications: Browser push notifications (requires permission)

Completing Your Profile

A complete profile helps you connect better with the community:

Updating Your Information

You can update your profile information at any time:

1. Navigate to your profile settings
2. Make the desired changes
3. Click "Save Changes" at the bottom
4. Your changes will be reflected immediately

Profile vs Dancer Profile

Important distinction:

• Personal Profile: Your user account information (what this article covers)
• Dancer Profile: A public-facing portfolio showcasing your dance journey (requires Organizer role)
