What can I do this weekend?
“Where can I see something meaningful happening near me?”
That question kept coming back to me. I would have time over the weekend, I would want to see a performance or discover something new, but finding what was happening nearby was rarely simple.
The answer was scattered across posters, messages, social feeds and conversations. The work was there. The people were there. But the connection between them was difficult to find.
02 / The problem
A rich cultural world should not feel invisible.
An artist may have years of training, a school, a lineage and a growing body of work — yet only the next performance is visible. An audience may want to support the arts — yet not know where to look or who they are seeing.
And the people who shaped a tradition can become difficult to find. Odissi has been formed by generations of gurus, dancers, musicians and teachers. Their work deserves more than a passing mention; it deserves a connected public record and a directory that helps the next person learn where the tradition came from.
Taalika is our attempt to make the work around the stage as discoverable as the stage itself.

When it works
The right people find one another.
An audience finds something worth seeing. An artist is understood beyond a single appearance. A school, guru or legend remains part of the living record. The tradition gets a future audience as well as a history.
What we are trying to prevent
Good work disappearing into the noise.
A missed weekend, an unseen artist, a forgotten teacher, a festival with no lasting record — these are small losses that add up. Taalika is being built to make them less likely.
05 / A note from the founder
This began with a family, a question and a love for Odissi.
I am an IT professional by background, but my deeper connection with art began through my daughter, who has been learning Odissi for the last seven years. Alongside my wife, we travelled across cities for performances and met teachers, dancers and organisers who put their hearts into the work.
I kept asking myself a simple question: how should I spend my time over the weekend? Where can I see a performance or discover something meaningful happening in a nearby place? The answer was often harder to find than it should have been.
Then I began to see the same gap from the artist's side. Performances were happening, but the artist's training, lineage, school, students and journey were rarely visible together. Even the legends who shaped Odissi were not always easy for a curious person to discover as a connected directory.
Taalika grew from conversations with my wife, daughter, son and colleagues: a belief that technology can help art, artist and audience meet more naturally. We are starting with a public record that makes cultural discovery easier today, while helping the people and traditions behind it remain visible tomorrow.
