About Taalika

A platform born from rhythm — connecting every heart that beats for Odissi.

Taalika is more than a website. It's a movement — created to unite the diverse world of Odissi dancers, gurus, institutions, event organizers, and enthusiasts on one shared platform. We aim to preserve the art, support the artists, and strengthen the community through collaboration, visibility, and rhythm.

    The Story Behind Taalika

    Odissi Dancer

The name Taalika comes from "Taal" — the rhythm that lies at the heart of every classical Indian art form, especially Odissi. In Odissi, taal isn't just a beat — it's the harmony that unites movement, music, and emotion.

Adding "-ika" gives the sense of creation — something born out of rhythm. That's what we envisioned Taalika to be: A creation born from rhythm — a digital stage for the Odissi community.

Just as every performance finds balance between dancer, guru, and audience, Taalika brings together every rhythm of this ecosystem — connecting people, promoting events, and celebrating the shared love for Odissi.

    Our Purpose

While the internet holds endless information, it often scatters what truly matters — the connections between people. Taalika was built to bring everyone related to Odissi closer, so that we can discover each other, collaborate, and grow together.

    Through Taalika, you can:

    • Discover fellow Odissi dancers, enthusiasts, and contributors.
    • Find trusted sources for costumes, ornaments, tahia, and accessories.
    • Promote and explore Odissi events happening across cities.
    • Manage your events end-to-end — from registrations and payments to promotions.
    • Run your dance school or institution profile without needing a separate website.

Our dream is to make it easy to celebrate, share, and sustain the art we all love.

    Our Contribution

Odissi deserves its rightful space — in auditoriums, on digital platforms, and in people's hearts. Through Taalika, we're also working to connect:

    • Corporates, who wish to bring Odissi to their cultural events.
    • Sponsors and patrons, who can support festivals and young artists.
    • Communities and schools, who can now showcase their work effortlessly.

Our goal is to make Odissi visible, accessible, and sustainable — by empowering everyone who contributes to its rhythm.

    Founder's Note

I am an IT professional by background — someone who understands how technology can make lives simpler. But my real connection with art began through my daughter, who has been learning Odissi for the last seven years. Alongside my wife, we've travelled across cities for performances, meeting organizers, teachers, and dancers who put their hearts into every event.

While the performances we saw were mesmerizing, one thing often saddened me — the lack of audience and visibility. Many events were happening, but not everyone knew about them. Even fellow dancers sometimes missed their peers' performances.

That's when the idea of Taalika began — during family discussions and brainstorming with my wife, daughter, son, and some of my colleagues. We asked: Can technology bridge this gap and make Odissi more connected?

Through Taalika, we've tried to build something meaningful — a way to simplify event management, boost visibility, and make every artist's effort reach a wider audience. Our goal is to be a catalyst — bringing together everyone involved in Odissi so that help, collaboration, and growth are always just a click away.

Taalika is a family effort born from love for an art form — and a belief that when we move in rhythm, we move together.
