Chisato Miura is a Nagoya-based Japanese Indian-classical-dance artist, teacher, and the Director and Coordinator of Tridhara Japan. She works principally in Odissi of the Guru Debaprasad Das style, a tradition transmitted to her through Guru Gajendra Kumar Panda. She first visited Odisha at age 19 and was inspired to pursue dance after seeing Panda perform in Japan.
Her Odissi study began in 2010 with Kaori Naka in Nara, Japan, alongside training with Guru Gajendra Kumar Panda in Bhubaneswar. She subsequently spent extended periods in Bhubaneswar through 2014 and has continued periodic advanced study there. She also studied the Odissi percussion instrument mardala with Guru Janardan Dash from 2011.
Miura has performed in Japan, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan, in solo, duet, and group presentations. Her documented appearances include the Odissi International Festival, Mukteshwar Dance Festival, Konark Dance Festival, Puri Beach Festival, Namaste India, and programmes connected with Rath Yatra in Japan. In addition to Odissi, her documented performance record includes Bharatanatyam and Sambalpuri repertoire.
In 2014, Miura began teaching Odissi in Nagoya. With Guru Gajendra Kumar Panda's permission, she established Tridhara Japan in 2016 to teach and present the Debaprasad Das tradition, organize workshops and tours, and facilitate cultural exchange. She continues to lead classes, produce performances, organize annual Sradhanjali Samaroha presentations, and serve as chairman of the Kasugai Shree Jagannatha Ratha Yatra Festival organizing committee.
