    Vidhushi Sindhu Kiran

    35+ Years Experience

    About Me

Vidushi Sindhu Kiran is a renowned exponent of Indian classical dance, acclaimed for her mastery of both Odissi and Mohiniyattam. As the founder and principal guru of the Rudra Nrityayogashala in Mysuru, she is a leading figure in promoting the cultural heritage of Odisha in Karnataka. Born and raised in a culturally rich environment, she began her journey in dance at a young age, initially exploring various forms before specializing in Odissi. Her early training laid a strong foundation, emphasizing the grace, expressiveness, and intricate footwork characteristic of Odissi. Over the years, Sindhu has evolved into a performer known for her emotive abhinaya and precise technique, blending traditional elements with contemporary interpretations to appeal to modern audiences. Sindhu's major contributions include establishing the Rudra Nrityayogashala School of Odissi Dance in Mysuru, where she trains aspiring dancers and conducts workshops to spread awareness of Odissi in South India, a region traditionally dominated by other classical forms like Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. She has choreographed several acclaimed productions that explore themes from Indian mythology and social issues, earning her recognition for innovative yet respectful approaches to the art form. Her performances have graced prestigious festivals across India and internationally, contributing to the global appreciation of Odissi. Sindhu's legacy lies in bridging the gap between North and South Indian classical traditions, inspiring a new generation of dancers to embrace Odissi. Currently, Sindhu remains actively involved in teaching at her institution, mentoring students through the guru-shishya parampara, and participating in cultural events. She continues to perform and collaborate with other artists, ensuring the vitality of Odissi in contemporary times. Her work also extends to online platforms, where she shares tutorials and insights to make the dance accessible to a wider audience.
