Gunjan Dance & Music Festival
Classical Dance and Music Festival
About the Festival
Since 1996, the three-day Gunjan Dance and Music Festival in Cuttack has brought together classical dance and music performances by the students of the academy and distinguished national & international artists, creating a vibrant cultural spectacle under the direction of Guru Smt. Meera Das.
The Gunjan Dance and Music Festival is organised annually by Gunjan Dance Academy (Cuttack) under the leadership of Guru Smt. Meera Das. Founded in 1996, the festival has grown into a three-day celebration of Odissi dance and Indian classical music that honours tradition even as it embraces new expressions. Over the years, the festival has been graced by eminent artists and dignitaries, and the performances — ranging from solo recitals to group choreographies — are noted for their splendour, meticulous technique and emotional depth. The festival also recognises senior artistes with lifetime-achievement honours, and offers a platform for young artists from the region and beyond to participate, perform and network with peers. The backdrop of Cuttack’s rich cultural heritage, and the academy’s long pedigree in Odissi training, give the festival a special place in Odisha’s classical arts calendar.
