

Odissi dance
Gunjan Dance Academy is the brainchild of Guru Smt. Meera Das, a renowned Odissi exponent trained under Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra at the Odissi Research Centre. Meera Das has performed solo in numerous festivals across India and in about 62 countries worldwide. She founded the academy in 1995 to train committed students in Odissi. The institute has grown into one of Odisha's premier dance schools with more than 300 students in Cuttack. Meera Das has choreographed over 30 new dance items and around 17 dance dramas and has received multiple national and international awards for her contribution to Odissi. Gunjan runs excellent in-house training facilities, accepts students from diverse backgrounds including overseas learners, conducts lecture-demonstrations in interior Odisha and other states, and organizes annual national-level festivals including the long-running Gunjan Dance & Music Festival and the Gunjan Sandhya festival (since 2012). Admissions are open to children 6 years and older when available.
